“R” For Actuaries and Data Scientists will provide hands-on personal training for actuaries, data scientists, and students on the current techniques employed using the “R” programming language to implement computer solutions in the actuarial and data science workplace. There will also be additional modules for students preparing for Exams SRM, PA, and MAS-2 separate from this program.

Charles Major has accumulated over 30 years of experience employing statistical and data analysis tools in the software industry. This includes more than nine years using” R”, and its origin language “S”, to design and implement software solutions for many companies worldwide. Additionally, he has many years of experience designing and implementing software using “C”, Cobol, Fortran, and other leading software products. During these years he was employed at IBM, Morgan Stanley, Alexander Insurance, Metropolitan Insurance as well as SAS and SPSS. Professor Major also leads classes at ActuaryExamTutor, New York University, and University of North Florida for students preparing for their actuarial exams, specializing in Exams P, FM, and IFM. Professor Major holds a BS in Math and Statistics from University of New Hampshire, MS in Math, Statistics, and Operations Research for Finance from New York University, and is working towards a PhD in Math and Science from University of New Hampshire.
