SOA Advanced Long-Term Actuarial Mathematics — October 2026 Sitting
Elevate Beyond Self-Study for ALTAM.
Most ALTAM candidates aren’t sitting it for the first time — many have already taken it two or three times. If you already know the material but it still isn’t translating into a pass, the gap usually isn’t knowledge. It’s written-answer technique, partial-credit strategy, and timed practice — exactly what this bootcamp is built to close before your next sitting.

The Real Problem
Why Prepared Candidates Still Don't Pass
ALTAM’s failure rate isn’t just about knowing the material. SOA examiners’ published comments reveal a consistent set of communication and strategy failures — ones that your study manual was never designed to fix.
SOA Examiners’ Comments — Published Feedback
“Candidates memorised Thiele’s formula rather than understanding the derivation. Many struggled to apply it correctly when the question required identifying the appropriate states and transitions — particularly where reserves for certain states are zero.“

What You’ll Get
A full bootcamp, not just practice exams
Four live weekly classes
Written-answer technique guide
Full-length final mock exam
High-Yield Topic Deep Dives
FAM Foundations Refresh
Interactive Q&A Support
Designed to elevate your skills beyond self-study using ACTEX, Coaching Actuaries, ASM, or TIA — not replace them. Those resources cover the syllabus content comprehensively. Program Structure
Your 4-week ALTAM bootcamp
September 20 – October 11, 2026. Four live weekly classes, every Sunday at 1:00–3:00 PM EST, moving through the full syllabus — with a self-paced, graded mock exam after the final class.
Week 1
Sun, Sep 20 · 1:00–3:00 PM EST
Survival models & joint life insurance
Start with Markov multiple-state models, transition intensities, and multiple-decrement tables, then move into joint life and joint annuity statuses — independence, dependence, and the broken heart effect.
Week 2
Sun, Sep 27 · 1:00–3:00 PM EST
Premium & policy valuation
A full session on the exam’s highest-weight topic: state-dependent present value random variables, Woolhouse approximations, equivalence principle premiums, and Thiele’s differential equation — derivation through to application.
Week 3
Sun, Oct 4 · 1:00–3:00 PM EST
Profit analysis & pension plans
Cover gain-by-source analysis, profit signatures, NPV/IRR, and discounted payback, then move into pension valuation — Projected and Traditional Unit Credit methods, accrued liability, and normal cost.
Week 4
Sun, Oct 11 · 1:00–3:00 PM EST
Universal life, embedded options & exam-day readiness + Full-length Mock Up Exam
Universal life, embedded options & exam-day readiness + Full-length Mock Up Exam Close out the syllabus with universal life account value mechanics and no-lapse guarantees, plus embedded options (GMDB/GMMB/GMIB/GMWB) and their valuation, then wrap up with an exam-day readiness discussion. After class, you’ll be given a complete full-length mock exam to work through at your own pace — graded by our instructors, with written feedback provided afterward.
Student Testimonials
What Students Are Saying
”I found ActuaryExamTutor to be extremely helpful in passing exams. I used their assistance to pass exam LTAM and PA. The tutors built a specific study plan for me to follow with goals to accomplish at each step of the way to keep me on track. This included teaching the material as well as explaining practice and previous exam questions I didn't understand. I felt that they really wanted to help in any way they needed to get me to pass. With the help of ActuaryExamTutor, I was able to understand the material well and tackle new questions that I haven't seen before. Thank you.
TREVOR K.

My tutor gave detailed explanations to questions and solutions and offered additional insight on solving similar problems. It was an amazing experience compared to a previous service that never delivered on their promises. ActuaryExamTutor makes a great difference. Thank you so much for helping me pass Exam P!

Frequently Asked Questions
Common Questions
Who is the instructor for the bootcamp?
Raymond Goh is an Associate of the Society of Actuaries (ASA) completing his final requirements towards Fellowship with over 7 years of actuarial experience across insurance and consulting lines. He possesses a great deal of experience teaching and supporting actuarial students in their exam preparation. He is passionate about making difficult actuarial concepts clear and intuitive and his students exam ready.
Is this a replacement for ACTEX, Coaching Actuaries, or TIA?
No. This bootcamp is designed to elevate your skills beyond self-study using ACTEX, Coaching Actuaries, ASM, or TIA — not replace them. Those resources cover content comprehensively. This bootcamp focuses on what they typically don’t: connected weekly instruction, written-answer technique, partial-credit strategy, and timed full-length practice under real exam conditions.
How is this bootcamp structured?
Four live weekly classes move through the full syllabus in sequence — survival models and joint life, then premium and policy valuation, then profit analysis and pensions, then universal life, embedded options, and exam-day readiness. After Week 4, you’ll complete a full-length mock exam at your own pace, graded with written feedback provided afterward.
How is the mock exam developed?
The final mock exam is built by following the most recent SOA syllabus and released past exams, reflecting the style, format, and point structure of the real ALTAM exam — 6 questions, 60 points, with one Excel-based question. You complete it at your own pace after Week 4, and our instructors grade it and provide written feedback.
Will class recordings be available?
Yes — all four live classes are recorded and shared with enrolled students, so you can revisit them at any point during the four-week program.
Who is this bootcamp best suited for?
This bootcamp is ideal for candidates with an upcoming ALTAM sitting who want structured, connected instruction across the full syllabus plus dedicated exam-skills practice. It’s especially valuable for candidates on a repeat attempt who already know parts of the material but haven’t closed the gap on written-answer technique and timed practice.
I passed FAM recently. Do I need a foundations refresher?
If your FAM knowledge is fresh and solid, you likely don’t need a full refresher. We include a targeted FAM foundations review as part of Week 1, so you can quickly patch any gaps without revisiting your entire FAM notes.
